[Pkg-gauche-devel] Fwd: Plan to release gauche 0.9 deb.

Hi again,

It's very creepy that there seems already two mails in the pipermail
archive, although I've posted only ONE mail to the list.

http://lists.alioth.debian.org/pipermail/pkg-gauche-devel/2010-January/000000.html
http://lists.alioth.debian.org/pipermail/pkg-gauche-devel/2010-January/000001.html

The archiver must have misunderstood quoting part of the mail as
another one, which contains a line starting with "From ". You'd
better be careful not to make such a post.

I repost the mail for your convenience.

Jens (and other package maintainers),

I've just given a try to your gauche 0.9.0 package from
http://karme.de/debian/.  I really appreciate your work.

It's necessary to avoid a lintian error binary-or-shlib-defines-rpath.

I've felt the gauche package needs restructuring on its binary debs
following other modern scripting language packagings (like ruby).  One
possible plan is:

 * gauche for /usr/bin/gosh.
 * libgauche0 for libgauche.so.0 and other standard libraries.
 * gauche-dev for development files.
 * gauche-doc for texinfo and pdf files.

Those problems need to be addressed as ever.  And we need to
communicate other developers who maintain packages dependent on
gauche.

We need a common place and a mailing list to discuss more.  Could you
join pkg-gauche.alioth.debian.org if I could prepare it?

Regards,
