Package: gpm
Version: 1.19.6-17
Priority: normal

The old gpmconfig configuration will cope with a common error: it will not=
=20
allow the user to mystype the mouse type since it would compare it with the=
=20
list of available mouse types. The new debconf configuration makes no=20
effort to review what the user has introduced and, in the event of a typo,=
=20
the configuration will break (since gpm will not be able to start).

A typo might be now more common since the user is first presented with the
list of available options and then is asked (in a new screen) what option
does he want to select without any mention of the possible options. I think
the question dialog should probably be a radio button kind of question
(select one of the list) instead of a free selection (text area). If it
would be implemented this way there wouldn't be any need to check the
user's input.

Regards

Javier
