Yeah, I hadn't thought of that. You can't have ncurses depend on
libgpm without promoting it to essential, etc.
Earlier, you mentioned getting misdirected bug reports because people
saw libncurses in 'ldd' for apps that only use -lgpm. Is this enough
of an annoyance, do you think, for me to go ahead and do the weak
symbol thing which stops libgpm from (explicitly) linking to
libncurses?
