Thanks for the info.  I'll take a look at some point, but one problem
is that I don't have any absolute-mode event devices here, so it's hard
to test stuff.  If I can find and fix a bug in the patchset
corresponding to what you report, I'll ask you to test it.

Debian is currently still shipping gpm 1.19.6 (we'll be upgrading
soon), the patchset is against 1.20.something.  Which version did you
test the patch against?
