Given that sarge support has been discontinued, we'll not be able to
fix this in any way (not that we would have been able if it was
supported either).

Could you try if it works with later versions, like the ones from etch,
otherwise I'm tempted to just close this.

On the other hand from looking at the logs, it might just be that your
kernel is not properly configured? missing modules, you could try using
/dev/input/mice instead, etc.
