Hi,
This might be useful or not, but I had the same problem when I updated
to gstreamer0.8-alsa 0.8.10-3. I also use dmix on PowerPC and got
constant ticking (about 4Hz) through my sound.
What seems to have resolved it for me is that I replaced a rather old
dmix configuration in /etc/asound.conf by the one that is now delivered
with libasound2: /usr/share/doc/libasound2/examples/asound.conf_dmix,
since a dmix setup is included in /usr/share/alsa/pcm/dmix.conf.
I hope this works for you.
Greetings,
Paul
