 Please try to run "gst-launch-0.8 filesrc location=/home/foo/bar.mp3 !
 spider ! audioscale ! audioconvert ! alsasink", this is a snipset taken
 from the FAQ which would help us decide whether Amarok is the culprit
 or not.

 Gstasf is in gstreamer0.8-misc, could you attach me the output of:
 apt-cache search gstreamer | sed 's/ - .*//' | xargs dpkg -l

 (preferably redirected to a file)
