 Good summary, this is what I expected.

 I'm quite sure the artsdsink segfault is the upstream bug I mentionned
 in artsd, and there's not much GStreamer can do about it.

 The patch I've given to you is already in the next Debian packages, but
 these are stuck in the "NEW queue" because of the addition of the
 Matroska plugin, see <http://ftp-master.debian.org/new.html>.
