 I'm sure the ELF generation is cleaner, but what about the underlying
 assumption that the semantics of internal functions might have changed?

 As far as I understood it, internal usage of private functions might
 be incompatible across tarball releases, and it's always expected that
 you do not mix binaries created from the same module from different
 versions.  If this requirement is gone too, then I might as well remove
 these "type B" deps from _0.9_.
