I am currently starring at my transmageddon window and can clearly read
VP9 among the available Video codecs when WebM is selected as the
container.

Maybe you do not have the appropriate gstreamer codecs installed?

Maybe we should just drop the explicit list or reduce it to some
prominent examples. The full list is merely a technical implementation
detail and since codec and container support is a moving target, it is
most probably always wrong.
