Oliver,

While I can understand your frustration, I am barely able to keep on top of 
the bug reports filed against hplip and the majority are upstream issues.

Any assistance with bug triage is welcome!

However while the Debian team are unable to keep on top of the BTS it makes 
sense to redirect upstream reports directly to upstream.  That way our users 
get a quicker response to their issues, upstream also supports raising both 
questions and/ or bugs. It is unfortunate that upstream does require 
registration, but that is their decision.

Finally, presubj does already state that Debian users are 'welcome' to file in 
the Debian BTS.
