I have an Officejet 4500 that is networked via an Ethernet cable. Until
recently, it worked just fine. Now I get complaints that it is probably
not connected (which is false) and nothing prints. The printer works
fine from a Windows machine on the network using the software from the
CD included with the printer, so I'm certain that it is, in fact,
connected and functioning.
I did get it working once by downgrading hplip and ghostscript and
rebooting, but it took all three. I'm going to see if simply rebooting
solves the problem or not.
CUPS claims:

I've attached the most recent /var/log/cups/error_log, compressed with
gzip. If you have any questions or need any testing, please let me
know. If the bug is in some other package, feel free to reassign
(possibly with an affects notation).
