I've uploaded v4l-utils 0.8.5-1 with multiarch support. To test it the
libjpeg package needs support multiarch, too. But even with a working
multiarch package chain I cannot stop building the 32bit packages on
amd64 because ia32-libs(-dev) depends on them.

Is there a target date when ia32-libs will be removed? If there is no
such date, or the date is in the distant future, could you please add
libv4l to ia32-libs?

Build-depending on ia32-libs-dev also causes troubles on Ubuntu:

Thanks,
Gregor
