OK. Now I get it (I'm writing it down here, so if anybody is as slow as 
I was to get it right, he could see it explicitly stated bellow).

I did (after "dpkg --add-architecture i386"):
# apt-get install libc6:i386

.... and the result was just a few packages to install:

The following extra packages will be installed:
   gcc-4.7-base:i386 libc6-i686:i386 libgcc1:i386
Suggested packages:
   glibc-doc:i386 locales:i386
The following NEW packages will be installed:
   gcc-4.7-base:i386 libc6:i386 libc6-i686:i386 libgcc1:i386
