You probably mean copyright-check.mk (buildinfo.mk invoking dh_buildinfo 
has nothing to do with this bug).

I disagree. Copyright-check is intended to help ensure that changes to 
copyrights or licenses are not ignored in the packaging process.

I have an improved, more robust version of copyright-check.mk that will 
get applied - I just haven't found time to do it yet.
