It allows you to create your own keyboard mappings.

It (Keyman) is particularly useful for languages and scripts (such as
Lao, Amharic, IPA or Tibetan) which need more complex input mapping than
simple letter-for-key substitutions, since it can recognise which
characters have already been entered, and change them if necessary or
use them to control the output for the current keystroke.
