Gcin is written in C. It has no C++ ABI discompatibility problem.
Its immodules are very stable, and supports all locales, including
POSIX/C locale.

Gcin's GTK immodule works great with Mozilla family, Acrobat Reader, and
all GTK+2-based applications(Of course!). Its QT immodule works great
with Skype, Opera, and all Qt3-based applications. Both immodules are as
stable as XIM.

If Debian Etch prefers XIM, let gcin use XIM as default is also a good idea.

I do not know what is "reference". I have maintained gcin deb packages
for one and half an year, since version 0.9.5. I will maintain gcin's
Debian/Ubuntu packages for a long time.

Middle-click gcin's tray icon, then you may select Japanese
inputmethod(The second item from the bottom).
Ctrl+Space will toggle gcin's input window on an off.
Gcin uses Space as endkey. For example, press "a" "Space" "1" in input
window can produce a "あ".

Gcin's XIM mode only supports zh_TW.*, zh_CN.*, and en_US.UTF-8
currently. Its default XIM name is "gcin". It also can auto-detect XIM
name, according to XMODIFIERS.
