Dear Maintainer,

   * What led up to the situation?

After a series of upgrades on a mixed testing/unstable system,
I decided to reboot my computer (something which I do once a
month). When I logged onto my XFCE 4.8 desktop, where I had a saved
gnome-terminal session with several tabs and windows, I could not
longer interact with gnome-terminal other than clicking at the title
bar and other non-useful user activities. The terminal appears to
be frozen even if the tabs are in place but non-reactive. In short,
gnome terminal appears to have hung.

   * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
     ineffective)?

Surprisingly, after forcing the errant gnome-terminal instance
to quit by clicking on the X (close) button, and starting
another gnome-terminal instance, I am able to use gnome-terminal
again. Apparently, gnome-terminal hangs only when it is restored
from session. It runs fine when started after the hung gnome-terminal
is killed.

Subsequent log-outs and log-ins repeated the pattern, until I
stumbled on what I thought was a weird fix. Before I logged into
my XFCE, I deleted the following file:

rm ~/.cache/ibus/bus/registry.xml

If I repeat this action BEFORE starting logging onto my XFCE 4
desktop, gnome terminal runs fine from the restored session.
