I overlooked it was for 1.4.99.  Ok, reopened.

1.5 series is gtk3 based so these may be needed.

I agree.  experimental has pre 1.5 version.  We are tracking different
upstream branches 1.4 for unstable and 1.5 for experimental.

I did not catch that.  I never thought of .... interesting.

I disagree here.

I do not understand your big picture idea.  Please explain why you think
"needs to depend on ibus".  

If I add dependency as you suggested:
 ibus        depends on ibus-python
 ibus-python depends on ibus

Now you are suggesting to create cyclic dependency.  BAD !!!  
Please google why it is BAD.

I do not know if you know something I do not and if you are suggesting
this with some reason.  I am not sure your suggestion is based on some
good technical back ground and have bigger change across ibus family.
