Resending just to ML since the original message was blocked (Too many
CCEd.)
--------------------------
Hi,

Excuse me sending to many people as CC.
Please reply to the ML only. It can be joined/viewed at:
    https://alioth.debian.org/mail/?group_id=30337

During the wheezy cycle, we at Debian "IME Packaging Team" were
under-powered although we have 30 people listed. We maintain many
packages as the team upload.

  http://qa.debian.org/developer.php?login=pkg-ime-devel@lists.alioth.debian.org

I see it will be more challenging for Jessie since GNOME and ibus are
making non-compatible changes which sometimes breaks other tool chains
such as fcitx and SCIM. (Good news is the new SCIM seems to be bumped
to use C library calls like the old scim-bridge. So no more C++ ABI
problems. I may be wrong here but is SUSE using SCIM as the main IM and
updating it?)

So I am sending invitation to join "IME Packaging Team" to people posted
messages on our ML etc. and also making a roll call to confirm active
status of the existing members to help our mutual work better. (Please
forward this message to anyone interested.)

If you wish to join, please get alioth.debian.org account and request via its
web interface at alioth and also send your message to the mailing list.

http://wiki.debian.org/Alioth (general guide for alioth system)
https://alioth.debian.org/projects/pkg-ime/ (click near the right bottom corner)

If you wish to your confirm active status of the IME packaging team
membership, please respond to the ML address
pkg-ime-devel at lists.alioth.debian.org by the 2nd of August, 2013. (If
you indicate which packages you are focusing, that will be nice too.)

The requirements to the members are the following (This is based on
the de facto practice and only an tentative one. If you have opinion,
please let us know.):

 * interested in maintaining the good IME packages on Debian.
   (No need to have packages)
 * abide by the "Debian Social Contract".
 * willing to work with other people on the IME packaging team.
 * communicate publically on this ML or BTS of packages. (Along with
the social contract #3: "We will not hide problems")
 * use alioth VCS (mainly git with git-buildpackge style master +
upstream + pristine-tar branches) archive with collab-maint, if
possible. (Not to use package or group specific section of VCS
system to ease migration between maintainers.)

If I do not receive reply by 2nd of August, 2013, I will deactivate
account. This does not mean it is the end of the world. If you send
mail to this mailing list, and indicate your willingness to abide by the
IME packaging team rules such as one mentioned above, we are open to
reactivate you. After all, it is only the UNIX group membership, not
much impact to what you can. This is mainly to account for active
members to whom we can seek help. Your access to collab-maint is a bit
more open anyway. But this should make it easier to other new people to
become the lead package maintainer.

(How-to's on collab-maint join requests on Alioth:
 https://lists.debian.org/debian-devel-announce/2012/01/msg00006.html)

Regards,

Osamu
