maybe, but I am not really sure that no other program uses this key
combination. But feel free to mention whatever you find useful.

So, where else in that stack should I look?

Bisecting this way may be the easiest thing to try.

I am using ibus only as a stop-gap measure, because currently, no other
method works (see #723686). So don't hang your hopes too high.
