Hi,

Now unstable is getting GNOME 3.8, all the problem reported in
Bug #723031 has been resolved.

I have not checked its impact to non GNOME platform (Xfce, KDE, ...).

Now ibus setting via gnome-control-center works fine.
(Though upgrade will erase old ibus setting, you can set it manually
  again.)

Now ibus switching works fine with a nice input mode indicator
displayed right in the center of screen with clean super-space
combination to rotate among input modes.

Due to ibus 1.5 transition API change, ibus ON and OFF key bindings are
missing. So if you are using HENKAN(convert) and MUMENKAN(no convert)
to deterministically switch between Japanese Hiragana and English
alphabet input like me, you need to do it a bit differently.

I now assign latin_mode to Muhenkan and hiragana_mode to Henkan in
ibus-anthy. This effectively works just like switching ibus ON/OFF.

As for ensuring this new situation, it seems adding versioned dependency
to gir1.2-gtk-3.0 (>=3.8.5) seems to be good idea (backport friendly).

Osamu

PS: GNOME 3.8 transtion is in progress. In the mean time, gnome and
gnome-core meta packages are problematic for some opackages as
gnome-screensaver. Make sure to avaid autoremove due to conflict under
aptitude. Select packages requested by thesemetapackages manually while
skipping conflicting packages. Use of apt-get dist-upgrade is
desirable.

Osamu
