As you can see at http://www.iso.org/iso/country_codes/iso_3166_code_lists/english_country_names_and_code_elements.htm Spain is the official name for Spain. iso-codes has 'Kingdom of Spain' which is not completely incorrect, but nowadays, it's not used.

What you point is the official name of the country and it is indeed "Kingdom of Spain", according to ISO-3166 (unfortunately, the ISO-3166 maintenance agency does not freely publish the entire list....but we track the changes in the standard since several years).

In the standard, each country has two names mentioned: one "full name" which is the official name of the country (Kingdom of Spain) and one "short name" (Spain).

The iso-codes XML files carry both names.
