Hm, I think that your suggestion makes sense. I've just downloaded the
timezone data from the project's website [1, 2] and will take a look at
it. We would need to convert the text files into an XML file.

Apart from that, the only thing that could prevent us from including
timezones in iso-codes would be that there is no ISO standard for them;
it seems to me that those lists are just for convenience and not
authoritative. On the other hand, those lists are widely adopted and
could be regarded as some kind of "standard".

Personally, I don't see a major problem in including a
de-facto-standard which is not an official ISO standard, but let's see
what my research on the text files will reveal.
