Hi Tobias. Sorry for my long silence.
Yes, lots of progress has been made in a few languages. You can see it
here on our Pootle server:
Akan (ak):
http://pootle.locamotion.org/ak/firefox36/lang/toolkit/chrome/global/languageNames.properties.po?view_mode=translate
Luganda (lg):
http://pootle.locamotion.org/lg/firefox36/lang/toolkit/chrome/global/languageNames.properties.po?view_mode=translate
Songhay (son):
http://pootle.locamotion.org/son/firefox36/lang/toolkit/chrome/global/languageNames.properties.po?view_mode=translate
Northern Sotho (nso)
http://pootle.locamotion.org/nso/firefox36/lang/toolkit/chrome/global/languageNames.properties.po?view_mode=translate
Swahili (sw)
http://pootle.locamotion.org/sw/firefox36/lang/toolkit/chrome/global/languageNames.properties.po?view_mode=translate
(the PO files can be downloaded from the "translate" tab)
I can translate the 100% matches in the 639 domain, and submit it to you
in bulk (email is probably easiest. Since the language names differ, I
realise there will be some non-matches (like "Dutch" not matching
"Dutch; Flemish" in iso-codes). However, I'm sure we all agree that this
is a good start for several languages.
Some of these probably should get more review, so I don't know if we
should apply caution in some cases. Also, I realise you already have
nso.po (coming from Translate.org.za in ancient times) - I would
strongly recommend that we simply redo it entirely from the Mozilla
translations I point to above.
What is the current estimations for the freeze of testing, or other
important dates for the iso-codes team? How should we proceed? Just a
mail to one of you? And what about iso_639_3?
Thanks for the ping.
Friedel
