Yes, I know. Any ideas on switching to some other VCS, such as darcs? I
imagine the best time to switch is now, before too much work is done.

That said, I do think that the branches can be managed by hand without
too much effort.

Ok, will do so. This has to be done anyway, since the orig tarball needs
to be repacked to get rid of the binary jars.

And I will take your cue and switch to quilt, probably sooner rather
than later.
