Just now I joined the list so in the future there will be no need to Cc: me.
However, my joining DJG would not be appropriate since I know little about
slang or the internals of jed so write access to SVN would be wasted on me.
Rafael, thanks for the kind invitation, anyway. Nevertheless, I am an avid
jed user so, as I told Guenther before I joined the list, I am happy to test
with read-only SVN whether cutting-edge jed and jed-extra from DJG works for
one of my boxes which is a Ubuntu Breezy system. (My other box is currently
Debian stable which provides a useful comparison.) One motivation is the
Ubuntu Breezy combination of libslang2-2.0.4-4,
jed-0.99.16+0.99.17-pre111-0ubuntu1, and jed-extra-0.1.8 do not work very
well together although workarounds are available. (See my Ubuntu bug report
at https://launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/+source/jed-extra/+bug/35426) So if
the cutting edge jed and jed-extra provided by DJG works cleanly for me
without the workarounds that would be great. Another motive is to help out
with feedback to DJG if there are any problems with the cutting-edge
version.

STATUS: I am extremely busy so it will be at least a week until I start
testing of the DJG versions of jed and jed-extra, but I did try the syn
checkout using the above recipe and the analogous one for jed, and they work
for me. Also, I have skimmed through
http://pkg-jed.alioth.debian.org/DJG-Guidelines.html and
jed/build-orig-tar-gz, and I will look at them in more detail later. A week
or so from now, my plan is to debuild jed and jed-extra from the above svn
repository on my Ubuntu Breezy system, thoroughly check the contents and
scripts from the resulting binary debs, install them, try them out for daily
jed use, and report back my experiences to this list (and also at
https://launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/+source/jed-extra/+bug/35426).
