Thanks for the detailed report, Günter.  I will try to build the
package as soon as I can, but I cannot commit to a precise delay,
since I am quite busy now.

Just one question: where can I find jedmodes-2.1.tgz?

We must ensure that the upgrade from older versions of jed and jed-extra
is smooth.  Testing the upgrade in my system will be worthwhile, because
I have several personal configurations that rely on jed-extra_1.0-1.

According to the Debian Release Team, the general freeze for the etch
release will happen on October 18 (see
http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel-announce/2006/05/msg00015.html). We
should try hard to get the new versions of both jed and jed-extra into
unstable way before this date, such that it will be largely tested and
hopefully included in the next release of Debian.
