I think Jörg is right:

$ host svn.debian.org
svn.debian.org has address 217.196.43.134
svn.debian.org mail is handled by 10 wagner-xen1.debian.org.
$ host alioth.debian.org
alioth.debian.org has address 217.196.43.134
alioth.debian.org mail is handled by 10 mail.alioth.debian.org.

This happens because the host name, not the IP address is stored in
~/.ssh/config.
