The upstream author has fixed this bug.
This fix works also with Jed 0.99.18

Use it to replace /usr/share/jed/lib/dabbrev.sl or copy into a directory
that is in the jed-library path *before* /usr/share/jed/lib/, e.g. (with
jed-extra) /usr/share/jed/jed-extra/drop-in/ or ~/.jed/lib/
