Usage of git

It doesn't break anything, it's only a pollution of the history.

No, SVN isn't a SCM, it's an archival system. You can add entries and
receive entries and it helps distributing them, but it doesn't help you
with tasks like forking and merging, searching the history for more
advanced questions than “what was commit number X” or create good and
readable commits.

I don't vote for git. Bzr, mercurical or darcs might be good, too. But
I'm using git.
