I'm loosing mails too, sometimes. It's usually not any current mail that vanishes but mails which are some days older. Later when I search for a mail which I know must be there, I cannot find it. Instead I sometimes see completely empty mails with correct date but no subject, no sender, no receipient, not any header and no body. Just like a zero byte file. But it shows a date in the mail list view. I suppose these are orphans of the mails which have been gone.
Most of the time I'm experiencing this is while KMail is busy doing stuff (like syncing folders or moving/expiring mails) and then crashes. Sometimes I'm presented with a dialog about differing local and server versions and which one I want to use. But sometimes mails just vanish.
I'm using dimap and kontact, sometimes kmail. But it makes no difference if using kontact or kmail standalone. When I used Evolution inbetween with exchange-connector, kmail almost always redownloads _all_ my mails. Is this intended? Maybe this has to do with the problem.
KMail Version 1.9.3
Kontact Version 1.2.3
OpenSUSE 10.1
MS Exchange 2003 IMAP Server (yeah ugly I know, and SLOW with IMAP)
Apart from this bug, KMail is my favorite and in my eyes best mail client ever made. It beats Evolution by far in terms of functionality, usuability and stability (at least when connected to Exchange). Speed could be a little better but it at least doesn't die like Evolution does if it tends to become slow by processing large amounts of data.
