By the way (sorry for the extra mail), unfortunately, Debian's KDE team has decided not to reopen their report on this bug.  I hope they will change their mind.  In the meantime, it's clear that KMail's dIMAP support is still not completely trustworthy.  I hope that the KMail devs will reopen this bug on the KDE tracker so that all the folks that have been tracking it will know that it's still a problem, even if it doesn't happen as often.
