------- Additional Comments From timo orangeorb de 2006-06-18 23:43 -------
This bug hit me another time. Last week I lost my complete inbox (luckily we do regular backups). Maybe a brief description of the circumstances can help to track down this bug. Here's what happend:

In our company we store home directories of users on a single (nfs-)server and the client computers mount them using nfs. Last week this server stopped working. Because the complete home directory on the clients is mounted via nfs the clients also hang (waiting for timeout). One of the harddisks of the nfs server caused several system crashed, so the server got rebooted several times... sometimes the running kde session on the clients survived the reboot of the nfs server but some downtimes were too long...

After replacing the broken harddisk and rebooting server and clients, many (but not all) of my kde settings were lost (like background picture, font settings, style setting, some kmail setting etc.). Also my complete inbox got deleted.

The mailserver runs on a different machine and wasn't affected by the broken.. I'm running debian/sid with latest KDE (3.5.3) and using kontact with disconnected imap to access my imap account on a cyrus mail server.

Hope this helps.
