Good point, I really doubt this bug has vanished "somehow", plus: 3.5.1 still had this bug! Please note this bug was always hard to reproduce (just look how long this bug has been open!) and since it seriously affects valuable user-data please don't close it to frivolous.

If it's really fixed, it should be possible to provide the the relevant svn-log or something.
