------- Additional Comments From ramon vanalteren nl 2006-05-08 23:19 -------
I had a fairly reproducable test-case once....

Too dependent on my imap mail, so switched away from kmail since this bug bit me in the arse several months ago twice.

Testcase:

Pick up a fairly large collection of mail and setup kmail to sync it with the imap server on dimap. Fairly large was, in my case, >9K mails

Receive some new mails and generate a sync time-out (yank net cable from laptop)

Click OK on the time-out dialog

=> Mail loss.

Not 100% reproducable, seems to depend on markers in the underlying dimap folder state whether or not mail-loss occurs.

However fairly reproducable, 1 out of 3 would be a hit :-(

I don't have time to debug or test this, I do have a mail-archive that can be used to debug and I'm willing to distribute, it's a public mailing-list archive
I can even bounce emails to someone willing to test, just don't have the time myself....

I'd hate to see this bug closed without proper resolve, I'd like to return to Kmail for various reasons, not in the least because of the missing attachments feature ;-) I will not though if this bug isn't closed with a *known cause*, won't risk losing mail again and do not have the resources to implement backup to guard against it.
