First of all, thanks to the devs for a wonderful application.  Kontact is truly elegant.  I love it.

However, as a person who was just recently bitten by this bug/design issue (I didn't have the patch), I would vote for keeping this bug open until the patch has been tested for several months by a lot of people. This is a VERY VERY serious issue which threatens the reputation of Kontact/Kmail.  I have used a lot of email clients over the years, and have never lost thousands of messages the way I did yesterday.  It leaves a very bad taste in the mouth.  This sort of thing does not go over well in corporate environments, in particular.  It is the sort of thing which is disturbing enough to see in a Beta -- it simply should not exist in a stable tree.

Please don't close until this is truly, 100% resolved.
