 Martin Koller: Well then probably another bug report "corrupted or out of date index files should be rebuilt automatically" should be opened. I know that for example the AmigaOS mail client YAM (http://www.yam.ch) actually rebuilds index files when they are out of date (I think it checks whether the modification date of the folder directory is newer than that of the index file, but I am not sure). It probably makes sense to split this bug report in several smaller ones...

I can open such a bug report but I first would like to get some feedback whether it makes sense.
