I've done everything described previously in this bug. Sometimes they work. Sometimes they don't.  At the time of this writng, none were working.

This bug has been in (whatever the current stable version of) KDE (is)  since at least late 2004.

I'm presently running KDE 3.5.4 (Ubuntu 6.10 packages).
