[pkg-kolab] Status of the project?

Hello,

I was posting to debian-qt-kde at lists.debian.org with the question whether 
there was any effort going on to package kolab for debian proper. Steffen 
Joeris wrote back that yes and proposed to subscribe to this newsgroup - 
which I did (obviously ;0).
Can somebody please let me know what the general status of this project is?
Steffen was mentioning that there was some testing going on right now and I 
was wondering whether I could contribute to that somehow. I have limited 
experience as a developer, but am responsible system administrator for a 
number of machines - primarily 32 bit x86, but my desktop runs 64 bit debian.
