If I get your concern right, you want to have reflected in the exit
status, whether actually action was taken, right?
I think that's fair enough, and we might implement that in a future
release in unstable. Please note this is a minor improvement though, so
please don't expect that to be fixed in Squeeze due to Debian release
policies.
