Thanks, good to know!

Sounds like this should be standard for all autotool-build based
packages; maybe the lintian check for "outdated-autotools-helper-file" 
(I think that is what made me remove the old files, but apparently I
didn't read the extended description back then) should be more strict
and not care about the time stamp at all.
