I noticed, that this is problem rather with kernel, then lirc-modules-source.

2 ways:
 1) You don't need lirc_gpio - but maybe you have to patch kernel:

  (this is not working with my card id = 37 - I probably have to patch 
bttv-input.c)
 2) You play with lirc_gpio, but you have to patch kernel:
