Package: lirc
Version: 0.8.3-5
Severity: wishlist

Hi,

after cleaning up my system a bit (removing setserial and other packages),
I got the following messages on startup:

Sep 5 16:21:24 cerebrum kernel: [ 40.426376] lirc_serial: port 03f8 already in use
Sep 5 16:21:24 cerebrum kernel: [ 40.426445] lirc_serial: use 'setserial /dev/ttySX uart none'
Sep 5 16:21:24 cerebrum kernel: [ 40.426447] lirc_serial: or compile the serial port driver as module and
Sep 5 16:21:24 cerebrum kernel: [ 40.426450] lirc_serial: make sure this module is loaded first

After re-installing setserial lirc was starting up again. I know that this
only affects lirc_serial users who do not have compiled the serial port as
module, but as I use the Debian default kernel, the latter is a standard
situation. Recommending the package would give a hint to users who cannot
get their lirc up and running.

Kind regards

Sebastian Bremicker
