I believe this is better handled in xdebconfigurator.  I do not want
to spread the detection logic across both ltsp and xdebconfigurator.

I would instead recommend to "backport" (aka copy) the newer
xdebconfigurator.  The detection logic should be in the X packages and
xdebconfigurator, and I do not want it to spread into ltsp.  It is
better to have a few (or perhaps in the future only one) good
solution, instead of several not as good solutions.

In short, I'll integrate everything but the X detection changes into
my tree, and plan to make a new release to fix the rc.d cleanup code
to get rid of a bashism and make it more robust.

I'm downloading your tree now, and will merge it and undo the x
related changes in my tree.
