This is a bit of a long shot, but try setting in lts.conf:
  X_SMART_COLOR_DEPTH=false
or
  X_COLOR_DEPTH=24
It may be issues with 16-bit color depth, which is the default for thin clients
unless specified. Although it sounds like your issues may be a bit more
severe...
