1.5.97 is also known as 1.6beta7. This was the latest upstream at the  
time the package was
built., using 2.6.18 for etch.
The package should work as is, when the patches are updated.

The Subversion tree patches need to be updated for 1.6.0.1 or 1.6.1 ;  
from the lustre mailing
list, there are a number of patches to be applied ; I haven't had  
time to collate what patches
are needed and update subversion.

The plan is that the package should built and work against:
(1) the current kernel in sid / testing
(2) The latest stable kernel (2.6.18-6, I think, in etch).
