This cannot go in the default configuration. The correct solution is to
put your custom rule (or have the multipath-tools package do it by
default, if appropriate) in a file in /etc/udev/rules.d/ which sorts
before the default rules files (so start it with a number to be sure).

Subject: Request for change in udev configuration

        Hello Marco,

I would like to ask you if is possible to change one line in =
configuration=20
files udev.rules and devfs.rules to handle properly device-mapper =
devices over
udev. I use udev on production system with SAN connected volumes =
together with
multipath-tools. Every time when I upgraded my system (i.e. when new =
version of
udev is released) I have to edit both configuration files to modify =
penultimate
line from:

	KERNEL=3D"dm-[0-9]*",	NAME=3D""

to:

	KERNEL=3D"dm-[0-9]*",	PROGRAM=3D"/sbin/devmap_name %M %m", NAME=3D"%k", =
SYMLINK=3D"%c"

I think that settings will not impact any users that don't use device =
mapper=20
but in other hand it will be useful for users that use device mapper (or
multipath-tools) on their systems. For more information about this =
settings see
(if is necessary) REDME on multipath-tools package. I will welcome any =
comments
or suggestions about this change in configuration of udev.

Regards,

Marek
