Hi,
i got the same problem here:
First of all the output of vgscan -vvv (right before the first other
vgscan in /etc/init.d/lvm).
Reading all physical volumes. This may take a while...
Found volume group "data" using metadata type lvm2
I got a IHC7 board with two SATA disks and one PATA disk. All in
enhanced mode with debian testing.
hda7 is VG data
sda is VG backup
sdb is VG archive
ata_piix is loaded in /etc/modules.
libata, scsi_mod und sd_mod from ata_piix over the dependencies.
When booting VG data is found with /etc/init.d/lvm, VG backup and archive not.
If i run /etc/init.d/lvm after /etc/init.d/discover (which runs
discover-modules) it works.
There are the same modules loaded before and after the first
/etc/init.d/lvm (while booting).
It seems that discover-modules does something special with sd_mod
since there is an extra note (scsi sd_mod: loaded sucsessfully) when
(re?)loading sd_mod.
Putting sd_mod into /etc/modules doesnt help.
I can do some extra tests and i will check if makeing a partition on
sdb with the VG inside of it helps.
