Bug#330900: LVM2 does not scan non-partitioned block devices

When I use /dev/hdc with pvcreate, LVM's pvscan will not list it. Cause
of that, none of the LVM2 tools work correctly on such a device. The
documentation of LVM2 specifically says it's possible to use an entire
device for this purpose.

When I partition the device and use pvcreate /dev/hdc1, there's no
problem whatsoever.

I'm using Debian GNU/Linux, kernel 2.6.12-1-686.
